Short Description
The purpose of this grant is to provide funding support for peer-reviewed research projects in Illinois focusing on restoring function in multiple sclerosis through rehabilitation therapy and repairing and protecting the nervous system, as specified in statutory authority 20 ILCS 1605/21.7.

Funds will be provided to organizations in Illinois that conduct research pertaining to the repair and prevention of damage caused by multiple sclerosis.

Objectives and Goals

The applicant organization is required to solicit, review and award research subgrants to Illinois principal investigators who are personally and actively responsible for the conduct of the research, and who are considered eligible by his or her institution to apply for a research grant from institutions which can support specific research cited by the researchers.

Funding for Illinois chapter of the National MS Society. MS research grants only.

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding support for peer-reviewed research projects in Illinois focusing on restoring function in multiple sclerosis through rehabilitation therapy and repairing and protecting the nervous system.

Grant funds may not be used for institutional, organizational, or community-based overhead costs, indirect costs or levies, in accordance with 20 ILCS 1605/21.7.
Eligibility Requirements
Funding opportunity for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter, to select and oversee research grants pertaining to the prevention and repair of damage caused by multiple sclerosis, an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, in accordance with 20 ILCS 1605/21.7.

MS grant is renewed annually. Grantee must submit a work plan with detailed objectives and timelines and annual budget.

This grant is non-competitive. Application review and approval will be completed by the IDPH grant monitor based on prior grant guidelines, timely submission of reports and fiscal monitoring.

Grantee must provide quarterly program reports as specified in the grant agreement. Monthly fiscal reporting is also required.
