Short Description
Legislation directs the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to establish a state program for agricultural education as part of the curriculum of the K through adult public school system. ISBE has established the Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education (FCAE) Project to facilitate and coordinate agricultural education programs in Illinois.

Objectives and Goals
Implement statewide ag ed initiatives; coordinate content-specific curriculum and assessment materials; conduct statewide consumer ed outreach of agricultural literacy/awareness; provide content-specific professional development and on-site technical assistance; coordinate information collection, resources, website, etc.; coordinate business and education efforts for improvement of agricultural education.

Institutions of Higher Education that receive a state award or federal pass-through award for a grant program administered by the Illinois State Board of Education will be restricted to a maximum indirect rate of 8% or other indirect cost rate calculated by their cognizant federal agency, whichever is less, pursuant to an exception to the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and GATA approved by the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget.

Public community colleges and universities that offer an agricultural program of study are eligible.

Application and Award Processing
Eligible applicants complete the grant application through the RFP process and a review committee evaluates the applications according to the criteria in RFP letter. Upon successful completion, the applicant can renew four times.

Final report, midyear report, expenditure report, annual review/monitoring and/or audit as necessary; records kept according to generally accepted accounting principles and per grant administration guidelines.
