Short Description


The CSBG Healthy Homes program provides funds to support the CSBG program. These funds will be used to support innovative programs and activities conducted by community action agencies or other neighborhood-based organizations to eliminate poverty, promote family stabilization, and promote community revitalization while supporting other activities which are consistent with the purposes of the Community Services Block Grant Act.

Objectives and Goals
The CSBG mission is for the reduction of poverty, revitalization of low-income communities, and empowerment of low-income families and individuals to achieve stabilization. In addition, the use of discretionary funds, are designed to support activities which strengthen the Community Action network in Illinois.

Funds shall be used by the State to make grants with eligible organizations/entities for the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals to achieve stabilization.

Organizations must meet the requirements of the project needs.

Application and Award Processing
During the annual State Planning process, the State may identify specific areas of need within the Community Action network. These needs will then be written in the form of Request for Funding Opportunity. Organizations must submit the required grant package to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for consideration. Award amounts are determined based on the State's availability of funds.
Assistance Consideration
The Department receives funding annually from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services based on an allocation formula.
Post Assistance Requirements
Grantees are required to report on a quarterly basis using a Result Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) or similar system to report measurable outcomes.
