Short Description
UAS West Side Transition Academy is a Community-immersion program that prepares students with autism and related disorders from 5 area schools for successful post-secondary transitions. The focus is on school to work transition, social integration, and community participation. The Growing Solutions Farm is a First-of-its-kind 1.2-acre urban farm that advances the vocational readiness and post-secondary transition success of area students with autism and related disorders. It is intended to fill a gap on West Side for CPS students with autism. No such initiative exists in the city. Students are out of the classroom gaining immediate and transferrable skills in an out of school environment.
