Short Description
Pursuant to Public Act 96-37, the Community Health Center Construction Act, the Capital Development Board in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Public Health is authorized to make grants available to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and FQHC Look-Alikes for the following purposes: Purchasing equipment, Acquiring a new physical location for the purpose of delivering health care services, and/or Constructing or renovating new or existing community health center sites.

Eligibility Requirements
The funding will enable FQHC and FQHC Look-Alikes to increase services to underserved and uninsured individuals and families. A FQHC means a health center funded under section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. An FQHC Look-Alike means an organization that meets the requirements for receiving a grant under section 330 from the Public Health Service Act, but does not receive federal grants under that authority.
