Short Description
The program provides federal funding for a variety of community-based projects. Communities in non-metropolitan areas can apply for grant funding to improve public infrastructure and eliminate conditions detrimental to public health, safety and public welfare. Local governments may request grant funds that allow public facilities to undertake projects designed to alleviate these conditions. Priority is given for water, sanitary and storm sewer projects.

Funds shall be used by the State in accordance with HUD requirements and the approved Consolidated/Action Plan.
Eligibility Requirements
Units of local government that do not receive direct Entitlement CDBG funding may apply for State CDBG funding. Applicants must meet a national objective of benefiting low-to-moderate income (LMI) persons.

Application and Award Processing
Applications for Public Infrastructure grants are available through a competitive process held annually after HUD's allocation has been determined.
Assistance Consideration
Application submissions are competitively evaluated based on the criteria contained in the annual Guidebook available on the Department's website.
Post Assistance Requirements
Quarterly reports are submitted to track fiscal spending and project completion. Monitoring visits are conducted as needed based on an established risk analysis.
