Short Description
The purpose of the grant is to provide assistance with planning and the disseminate information and referrals to the various federal, state, and local training and employment programs for older workers.
Objectives and Goals
• To develop a comprehensive knowledge and coordinated system of federal, state and locally supported educational, training and employment-related services, programs and activities in the respective Area Agency on Aging Planning and Service Areas (PSAs) for the purpose of providing older individuals appropriate, equitable and maximum opportunity for participation in activities fostering increased employment and economic opportunities.
• To provide technical assistance to entities and local One-Stops providing such services in an effort to coordinate services, programs, and activities to ensure non-duplication and best utilization of resources.
• To utilize the established aging network for referrals and information dissemination to promote and advocate appropriate and equitable participation of older individuals in the various programs, services and activities available.
• To achieve the minimum targeted referrals as set forth in this SESP grant application in all three of the required categories: employment, training, and human services.
• To complete a basic Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) referral for those interested in the program even if the SESP sub-grantee does not provide direct SCSEP programmatic services (have the SCSEP grant) to local area they serve.
• To educate the general public on the needs and desires of older workers, as well as the benefits of retaining, retraining, and hiring of older individuals.
