Short Description
This program provides state funding for technical studies to support public transportation in Illinois. Please note: when these funds are used as a match, they will be awarded/recorded under the specific CSFA program (typically 1136). Matching funding totals should be reduced from this program and added to the specific program. All non-match funding will be processed under this CSFA Program, by issuing a NOSA and posting the award.

Objectives and Goals
Eligible studies will meet one or more of the following objectives:

a. Support the metropolitan area's economic vitality, especially by fostering global competitiveness,
productivity, and efficiency.
b. Increase motorized and non-motorized users' safety on the transportation system;
c. Increase motorized and non-motorized users' security on the transportation system;
d. Increase mobility and accessibility of people and freight;
e. Protect and enhance the environment, promote energy conservation, improve quality-of-life, and
promote consistency between transportation improvements and state and local planned growth and
economic development patterns;
f. Enhance the transportation system's integration for people and freight across and between modes;
g. Promote efficient system management and operation; and/or
h. Help preserve the existing transportation system.

This funding can only be used for technical studies to support of public transportation in Illinois.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants shall be Governmental Agencies or Mass Transit Agencies that are registered with Federal SAM; are in good standing with the Illinois Secretary of State, if applicable; and have a valid DUNS number.

Competitive Grant Application Selection Process based on funding availability.
Assistance Consideration
This funding is primarly used as the required 20% match to federal Section 5305(e) funding, but may also be used as 100% funding based on study justification and funding availability.
Post Assistance Requirements
Requires submittal of quarterly grant status reports.
