This program provides federal Section 5305(e) funding for technical studies to support public transportation in Illinois.

FAST Act, Public Law 114-94; 49 U.S.C. 5305; and Sections 300 and 305 of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois (20 ILCS 2705/2705-300 and 20 ILCS 2705/2705-305)
Objectives and Goals
Eligible studies will meet on or more of the following objectives:

a. Support the metropolitan area's economic vitality, especially by fostering global competitiveness,
productivity, and efficiency;
b. Increase motorized and non-motorized users' safety on the transportation system;
c. Increase motorized and non-motorized security on the transportation system;
d. Increase mobility and accessibility of people and freight;
e. Protect and enhance the environment, promote energy conservation, improve quality-of-life, and
promote consistency between transportation improvements and state and local planned growth and
economic development patterns;
f. Enhance the transportation system's integration for people and freight across and between modes;
g. Promote efficient system management and operation; and/or
h. Help preserve the existing transportation system.

This funding can only be used for technical studies to support of public transportation in Illinois.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants shall be Governmental Agencies or Mass Transit Agencies that are registered with Federal SAM; are in good standing with the Illinois Secretary of State, if applicable; and have a valid DUNS number.

Application and Award Processing
Competitive Grant Application Selection Process based on funding availability.
Assistance Consideration
This funding can only be used for up to 80% of the costs associated with the approved technical study scope.
Post Assistance Requirements
Requires submittal of quarterly grant status reports.
