The objective of this program is to set aside funding for the rehabilitation or replacement of larger, more expensive, structures that a local public agency would not be financially able to accomplish with their own federal and state funding allotments.

This program provides funding for the construction and construction engineering of local public agency bridges which are estimated to cost more than $1,000,000 to rehabilitate or replace.
Eligibility Requirements
The structure to be rehabilitated or replaced must be greater than 20 feet in length and must have a sufficiency rating less than 80 for rehabilitation or 50 for replacement. The estimated cost for rehabilitation or replacement of the structure must be greater than $1,000,000.

Application and Award Processing
The Department solicits annually for this program, however, the solicitation is for projects which will be programmed for construction five years in the future. This process allows the local public agency time to design plans, acquire right of way, move utilities, and save the required matching funds for the project.
Assistance Consideration
Funds for this Program can only be used to fund up to 80% of the construction and construction engineering. The LPA is responsible for the cost of preliminary engineering, land acquisition, utilities, and other pre-construction activities. All other requirements of STP-Bridge funds are applicable.
